Error Messages
Error Messages
System and device-specific errors are managed by the PM-1600. The
generic format for error messages is illustrated in the following figure.
As shown in the figure above, the message contains three parts: the error
number, the error description, and device-dependent information. All error
messages are stacked in a FIFO buffer. When there is at least one message
in the buffer, bit 2 of the Status Byte Register is set to 1. Use the SYST:ERR?
query to read the most recent message. The error message buffer is
initialized when starting up the PM-1600, when executing the *CLS
command, or when reading the last message stored in the buffer.
Error messages ending with a negative number are SCPI-based errors.
Error messages ending with a positive number are specific to the
PM-1600.
